Filmmaking for Young Professionals
With a generous grant from The Asia Foundation, LPFF and The Language Project organized a 10-day filmmaking workshop in November of 2011. Three members of the Vientiane-based Lao New Wave Cinema team designed the curriculum and acted as instructors, and the 10 students, aged 19-28, were carefully chosen for their ability to use the gained skills in their current workplaces, or future careers. Classes held at ARDA Language Centre’s Luang Prabang location covered filmmaking basics, from creative conception to editing. Divided into three groups, students wrote, directed, filmed, and edited short fiction films on topics of their choosing.
