Wet Season

Country:
Singapore
Director:
Anthony Chen
Running Time: 1h 43min
Director Anthony Chen brought attention to the Singaporean scene in 2013 with his Camera d’Or win for "Ilo Ilo," a film which centers around a boy and the beautifully complicated relationship with his nanny. In "Wet Season" he takes the relationship between boy and teacher a step further in this don’t-go-there tale of attraction. Chen’s characters find their connection through what is lacking in their lives, building into the empty spaces burned off by loss. He makes the forbidden seem civilized compared to the common domestic cruelties sanctioned by modern society.
