“California Dreaming” is a beautifully-photographed oneiric film in which reality almost seems like a dream. Escapism is a thread that guides one through the film, where two women try to flee their reality first by moving places and going to the countryside, and then by finding in their mutual connection a way to leave together.

Based in Luang Prabang, Laos, [Blue Chair] is a non-profit cultural organization committed to the celebration of Southeast Asian film, the growth of local and regional film industries, and the cultivation of regional audiences. We want to see a diversity of Southeast Asian stories told well and shared with the world.
